A heavy stone is thrown from a cliff of height  h in a given direction . The speed with which it hits the ground( air resistance may be neglected )

A .  Must depend on the speed of projection
B .  Must be larger than the speed of projection
C .  Must be independent of the sp[eed of projection
D .  (A) and (B) both are correct
Answer: Option D

When the stone reaches at ground . The potential energy of stone decreases . This decrease in potential engery appears as kinetic energy of stone . Hence , speed increases ,. Hence (D) is correct.
